This collection consists of Associated Press "rip and reads" concerning the assassination and funeral of President John F. Kennedy. Included are news of Leroy Davis, Jr from Winchester, Kentucky, who served in the honor guard at Pres. Kennedy's funeral; the Kentucky/Tennessee football game that was not cancelled; the Kentucky delegation to the funeral which included Gov. Bert Combs and Governor-elect Edward T. Breathitt; the naming of a bridge at Louisville after Pres. Kennedy; the reaction of a Kentucky soldier serving in Korea; and the closing of schools and businesses on the day of the funeral. "Rip and reads" were news printouts that came over the AP wire to radio stations.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, to Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy of Brookline, Massachusetts.
